“UVI is putting Idaho on the Social Justice Map”
"United Vision for Idaho provides leadership that leads to real improvements in the lives of people in Idaho and is a terrific partner in national struggles for democracy and justice. They work in hard terrain. And so their impact is all the more remarkable and needed. Adrienne is a gem. We should all be grateful for her leadership."
"(The United Vision Project) This is the only thing like this that has ever been done. Perhaps the closest thing might be Theodor Adorno studying the rise of authoritarianism after the Spanish Civil War"
“This project has given me hope that there is a path to healing our divide, to finding common ground, and to bringing civility back to our discourse. It has provided me a way to channel my energy into something that can make a real difference.”
“This program has given me the opportunity to get beyond the disbelief and anger built up over the last 4 years (and more) by finding the courage to be empathetic while reaching out to the Far Right. It’s frightening to me to think we could be heading towards an increasingly ‘white supremacist’ society, so I am motivated to do my part in the protection of our democracy.”
“To me this project is critical. We are all interconnected. This project will help us understand how we became so disconnected so that we can become connected again.”
“I'm amazed by what your organization is doing, especially in a state as red as Idaho. Combining your bold agenda with the reach, expertise and volunteer support of People's Action feels like a powerful tandem. While many campaigns seem to ask a lot of straight forward or yes/no questions, your campaign is asking how people feel, which I think is important. I was somewhat skeptical at first, but your campaign showed me how text-banking can create the opportunity to have a meaningful conversation if the responses are rooted in compassion.”
Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.
"Your session was one of the most moving and inspiring experiences our community has had in the wake of all the political and social turmoil of recent years, and especially, recent weeks. No one wanted it to end."
“In the past four years we have tracked a 30 percent increase in hate group growth, mirroring a similar pattern of FBI statistics illustrating a continued increase in hate crimes over a three year period ending in 2017,” said Heidi Beirich, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project. “The way to stop this trend is by making it a priority to end bigotry in our communities. As the resolution points out, Idaho is no stranger to racially motivated oppression. United Vision for Idaho's efforts to pass this ordinance in the city of Boise should be celebrated as strengthening diversity, equity, and inclusion for all.”
“I was lucky and very grateful to have Adrienne join the program of a convening I planned for a wide range of professionals working to track, respond to, and prevent hate and extremism in the United States. Her clear, compelling presentation about the process and critical importance of deep canvassing sparked a lively audience discussion and led to some of the key recommendations that emerged from the event, including: to create systemic change, we need to invest in organizing for the long-term, based on issues and shared values, and create a movement that delivers messaging and organizing to all people – urban, suburban, and rural communities. Adrienne brings a deep commitment and generous spirit to her work – and is just a joy to know!”
"United Vision for Idaho plays an important part in advancing progressive policies and worldview in the state. The work that they do - particularly in the areas of advancing economic and gender justice - cannot be understated. Their ability to bring together various stakeholders under one common umbrella with the ability to move - through grassroots organizing - a progressive vision of our future is critical to our movement."
"UVI is the largest and most important progressive coalition in one of the most reactionary states in the union. As such, it serves to organize the efforts and amplify the voices of the members of all of our diverse communities. Absent their efforts, what progress we have made as a state would undoubtedly be greatly diminished, and one can only guess at the number of regressive policies that they have thwarted by their resistance. Despite these dark days, the energy and enthusiasm that has been cultivated and channeled by United Vision for Idaho gives me hope for our future."
Boise State University launched the Marilyn Shuler Activist Certification Program We were proud not only provide workshops and critical resources for faculty, but also to present to classes of participants during their course study. "I attended a UVI training, facilitated by Adrienne Evans. It was the most impactful professional development experience I have had in 15 years! Adrienne tailored the training to be an exact match for the kind of work my colleague and I are preparing to do, making it spot-on valuable. Her knowledge and preparation were impressive and motivating. She has a power and unique combination of skills: great teaching ability AND extensive grassroots organizing experience. Not everyone who is a great community organizer is also a great teacher. I have found myself using strategies that Adrienne shared in a myriad of settings since the training. I recommend the experience highly for folks who are committed to social justice work in their communities."
"The Idaho AFL-CIO has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with United Vision for Idaho and worked closely together on issues including pay equity and minimum wage for a number of years now. This critical work requires the strength of each of our organizations and without the leadership of United Vision for Idaho and executive director, Adrienne Evans, our capacity to move labor’s agenda forward would be diminished.”
"We are proud to partner with United Vision for Idaho and to work on our shared goals of justice, particularly in regard to persons of color, those undocumented and our growing refugee population. UVI is an important vehicle for collaborative planning and joint action between groups that are both far flung around a large, sparsely populated state, and groups whose missions sit within different interests, but is more powerful when coordinated together. Thank you for your consideration to support this important work in Idaho."
“United Vision for Idaho and United Action for Idaho is made up of people committed to making our community and world a better place for us all to live. They work to build a collaborative approach in making positive progress on the social needs of our society, giving a voice to those who have none.”
“UVI is a primary source of accurate information for individuals and organizations throughout the state on issues that affect and impact our lives. UVI is a voice for thousands of Idahoans with respect to multiple pertinent issues, as well as being a key promotor of progressive values that bring citizens together in common purpose.
UVI is unquestionably the leading grassroots organization championing real, systematic, economic, and social change in Idaho while promoting human rights and environmental justice. UVI is clearly one of the most essential organizations in Idaho.”
"United Vision for Idaho; This non-profit champions a host of causes, all of which support the rights, needs and dignity of our population. Support of this organization will make us all better.”
"United Vision for Idaho, a wonderful umbrella organization that empowers diverse Idahoans facing challenges for health care, decent wages, equal rights, and more. Through UVI, many voices are heard, hearts are touched, and eyes are opened.
“United Vision for Idaho is our best chance to bring needed changes/improvements to overall level of social services and public attitudes in Idaho.”
“United Vision of Idaho’s undaunted work across Idaho for justice, equality, respect for all our citizens is critical for our future. UVI is the one statewide organization working for all marginalized persons.”
"United Vision for Idaho’s mission is to unite and bring people together to usher in equality for everyone. It is needed now more than ever before!”
“United Vision for Idaho works to better not only the lives of Idahoans but Americans, thus, giving hope to ALL.”
“United Vision for Idaho is an outstanding organization who units people on their commonalities, rather than their differences, advocates for fairness and equality, and promotes the common good of the people in all it does.”
“UVI delivered a day-long workshop in Idaho Falls recently and it was profoundly important. It gave us a HUGE surge of confidence and energy! We really felt we had the tools to build a movement. We are more confident about approaching people: we know what to ask and how to ask it. We have a greater sense of our purpose and how we can get there: we need to build a movement, not a reaction.
We know how to develop a process for building that movement: steps to organizing and why a plan is important. We understand the need for strategies and tactics and the difference between the two: critical to planning.
We have a better understanding of what it takes to make organizing successful: know your assets, know your allies and opponents, find what issues and interests will move them (know their interests!). It's not enough to be right; be strategic! Build power; leverage power strategically. Recognize that building a movement is the key to change. These are just some of the many highlights of this training that were particularly important to our organizing efforts in a rural part of the state.“
“Thank you again so much for spending the morning with us at Boise High and for all the work you are doing to make an actionable difference in our community. You are an inspiration to me to be more self-aware, work harder, and commit to more action.``
